The Marysville Fire Department was established in 1851 and is the second oldest fire department West of the Mississippi. We respond to over 2,800 emergency calls per year and serve the residents of the City of Marysville, District 10 and the Hallwood area. This 85 square mile area of responsibility includes: an urban downtown area, residential areas, farmlands, and wild land areas.
The department is an all risk fire department and is responsible for responding to all emergencies including: structure fires, vegetation fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents and hazardous materials incidents. The department also provides technical services including: fire safety inspections, fire prevention activities, and public education presentations.
Daily there are 4 personnel on duty; the Fire Chief, a Fire Captain, a Fire Engineer, and a Firefighter. The department also has an active volunteer component and a Firefighter Intern program in coordination with Yuba College and other area Firefighter Academies.
